Our Lady Queen of Peace Cenacle prayer group had been praying unceasingly. “Come Holy Spirit Come, by means of the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, your well-beloved spouse.”
“The wind blows where it wills.” (John 3:8) and quietly, without fanfare, the two “blue nuns”, as I like to call them, arrived in Brantford, Ontario, Canada on May 11, 2011 settling in at St. Pius X Parish. A little like Mary Poppins, out of the big blue sky (from the heavens?). From Nigeria to be exact, with a Doctor’s Bag in hand! Our parish community had no idea what was about to unfold. Slowly but surely things began to change, not only around St. Pius Parish, but in the wider community as well.
A time of grace, a blessing bestowed upon us, an answer to our prayers.
On January 16, 2014 we had our first meeting for the Associates of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother of Christ at St. Pius X Church. But many also attended from surrounding parishes drawn like a magnet to these charismatic nuns, Sister Mary Angeleen and Sister Mary De Porres, who very quickly had made their presence known. They were everywhere! Wherever they were needed. Did they ever sleep?? Truly living out the Gospel; putting the Gospel into Action. I think it was their own example of Christian love, compassion, and humility that drew us in.
We were asked what brought us to this first meeting. Could it be a response to the prompting of the Holy Spirit? “Come and See!”
The fruits began to grow.
